Dead Mountain by Donnie Eichar

I was looking for suggestions for a new adventure book to read and posted so on Instagram and a follower responded telling me to check out the Hike Like a Woman Adventure Book Club. It’s nice to know that I’m not the only one who turns to reading when actual adventuring is not possible AND not only am I not the only one, but there’s a whole group dedicated to reading adventure books!

Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident is about a group of college students working towards a mountaineering certification, go missing in the Ural Mountains and turn up dead in 1959. What happened to them remained a mystery until Donnie Eichar’s investigation turned up the answer. It’s a detective novel / real life story / adventure book all rolled into one.

Donnie Eichar does a great job of telling what happened to the students as well as about his journey to find out the truth. I highly recommend it. I also recommend checking out the Hike Like a Woman Adventure Book Club too – if you join the Facebook Group you can discuss that month’s book with other members!

    1. I’ve been reading the books out of order playing catch up. One of these days I’ll read the correct book in the correct month haha
