Once you’ve been to Watkins Glen State Park, you will understand why it is the most famous of the state parks in the Finger Lakes region of New York state.
Jess, her sister, and I visited in April (2017) and loved it! Even though the Gorge Trail – the main trail that takes you along Glen Creek and the 19 waterfalls that it creates – was closed for the season, we were still able to do the Indian Trail, which gives you a birds eye view of the creek by taking you along the top of the gorge.
We parked at the South Entrance parking lot and walked to the Upper Entrance and back.

I can’t wait to go back and hike the Gorge Trail! It is typically open May – October.
No visit to Watkins Glen, New York is complete without a stop at the Watkins Glen International, at least for racing fans. The United States Formula 1 Grand Prix was held at this track from 1961 to 1980. Having grown up watching Formula 1 with my dad, it was exciting to see this piece of history.
This is so high on my list! It looks gorgeous 🙂

For sure – I’ve seen other reviews and photos of Watkins Glen before and it appears to be well worth the trip. I have not been yet but certainly looks lovely. Thanks for sharing your photos and views
