In 2014 Lizzie and I road-tripped from Indiana to Acadia National Park. The day before we arrived we spent the night at Portsmouth, New Hampshire. We decided we’d take the “fun route” (US Route 1) instead of the “boring route” (I-95). Best. Decision. Ever.
We drove along the Atlantic Ocean, saw a lighthouse (1 of many along the coast), cute towns, the flagship L.L. Bean store (it was HUGE!), and a cool cable-stayed bridge.

We had lunch at the Flex-It Cafe in Ellsworth, Maine and then continued on to Acadia National Park. It was a great morning drive! There’s so much to be seen if you have time to get off the interstate!
